AFED was created in 1985 to connect women from the North and women from the South. This association pursues the following objectives:
• To sensitize public opinion and those responsible for ministries and NGOs to the need to recognize women as equal partners in development;
• Integrating gender relations into all development actions
• Promoting communication between women in the South and women in the North
• Organize training courses on gender relations
