MSM's mission is to train senior managers (engineers) and means (senior technical and / or professional licensees) in different specialties corresponding to the needs of the mining sector in Mauritania.

Why a School of Mines in Mauritania?

Because the Mauritanian subsoil contains many minerals (iron, gold, copper, phosphate, gypsum, uranium ...) that Mauritanians should be able to operate by themselves (4% of employment and 27% of GDP in 2010 );

Because foreign operators need national skilled labor to meet their plan to "Mauritanianization" executives agreed with the Government;
- Because engineers are the backbone of the industry;

Because the seats granted to Mauritanians in universities and engineering schools abroad are increasingly limited and those with the do not always come home;

To meet the government's willingness to provide our country with an excellent engineering school;

What leads the MSM?

Geological Engineer (exploration, reserve evaluation and quality of mine);

Mining engineer (planning and operation of the mine);

Engineer Electromécanicien (operates the mine and is responsible for maintenance of mine equipment);

Technicians Superiors in these specialties assist engineers in performing their tasks.

Where will be located the MSM?

The MSM has two campuses, one in Nouakchott will be trained Engineers (+5) and another in Akjoujt will be formed where the Senior Technicians (+3). When it reaches its cruising speed, the MSM will train 50 engineers and 30 senior technicians (BTS) per year.
These frameworks for the mining industry, will also work in the oil and manufacturing.

That's when the MSM?

MSM opened in November 2011. It will be located in temporary premises pending the construction of its own building. The permanent premises of the MSM will be located in the future university campus in Nouakchott (8 km on the road to Nouadhibou) for the site engineers and at the entrance of the city of Akjoujt for Senior Technicians site.

The final site of Nouakchott would leave Earth in October 2011 and will be completed in October 2013, to host the 3rd year of the first graduating engineers.
The MSM will feature classrooms equipped with multimedia (video conferencing), libraries, lecture halls, canteen, boarding and sports and recreation equipment.

How to access the MSM?

The MSM is an overriding public educational institution under the Ministry of Industry and Mines.
Access the MSM is open to Mauritanians who Diploma Bachelor of Science (C or D) and technical (T). MSM selects its students. This selection takes place in two phases

Phase 1: Selection of folders (based on school reports and transcripts of class 6th and 7th). This phase could take place during week 19 (second week of May);

Phase 2: Organizing a writing contest.

For this first school year, the MSM will recruit 25 students. An open house will be held towards the end of April 2011 in the premises of the MSM to give all relevant information to the organization of the selection, access to school life in his breast.

Can we access the MSM other than from the Baccalaureate?

The answer is yes. Some places are reserved for top candidates with a scientific Licence or a BTS in one of the specialties of the school. These candidates will integrate directly Engineer Round. The diagram in this page TRAINING possible bridges between the MSM and its environment.
