Zayed Giving Initiative is a unique model for humanitarian work at local and international levels. Since its inception in 2003, the initiative has made valuable contributions to various areas of community services and volunteering including health, education, environment and culture. The initiative works in line with the guiding principles laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE, and pursued by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

Over the past few years, the initiative has attracted over 50,000 volunteers to reach out to more than 100 million people in Arab and African countries who benefited from its various voluntary and humanitarian programmes.

One Million Volunteers Campaign
The One Million Volunteers campaign was launched in 2009 to attract one million men and women volunteers from diverse disciplines to take part in a drive to dedicate one million hours of voluntary work in community and economic development involving health, environment, education and culture.

National Emergency Medical Response Programme (Estijaba)
The National Emergency Medical Response Programme (Estijaba) was launched in 2009 to enhance the skills of medical and administrative staff in the area of medical response to emergencies.

Masouliya Social Responsibility Programme
The Zayed Giving Initiative, in a strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) launched the National Programme for Social Responsibility "Masouliya" to promote the culture of giving and encourage innovation and the adoption of social responsibility initiatives among various organisations across the country. The programme includes a social responsibility prize in three categories: Abu Dhabi, UAE and Arab World.

Weqaya Programme
Weqaya programme was launched in partnership with the Ministry of Health to enhance the health awareness among the members of community with a focus on the most vulnerable sections to chronic diseases. Weqaya is the Arabic for prevention.

Training without Borders
The pioneering Training without Borders is another successful initiative from Zayed Giving Initiative. It aims to provide training programmes to hone the skills of medical and paramedical professionals and develop their performance in the fields of emergency medicine, cardiac medicine, intensive care, injury care and disaster care.

Kitab Bus – The National Mobile Library
The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) partnered with the Zayed Giving Initiative in 2009 to launch the National Mobile Library (Kitab Bus). The initiative aims to promote the culture of reading and facilitate easy access to books by taking them right to people’s doorsteps across the Abu Dhabi Emirate.

E-voluntary Programme
The e-voluntary programme of the Zayed Giving Initiative is aimed at harnessing the latest technology to inculcate the culture of giving and volunteering among the various segments of society. The programme provides tech savvies with an opportunity to dedicate their IT skills for voluntary work.

Mobile Laboratory for Science and Technology
The Zayed Giving Initiative launched a mobile laboratory for science and technology, the first of its kind in the UAE and the Middle East, to disseminate the principles of science and technology and allow students to develop their creative scientific talents.

Mobile Curative and Preventive Bus
A medically equipped bus with mobile curative and preventive services was launched in partnership with the Department of Transport (DoT) to serve the different segments of society, especially in remote areas and at the centres of the elderly and people with special needs.

Festival of Giving
The Festival of Giving is cultural and humanitarian initiative by the Zayed Giving Initiative where thousands of UAE nationals and citizens meet in Abu Dhabi to form human blocks with their bodies.

Giving Hands Initiative
The Giving Hands Initiative, launched under the patronage of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, is aimed at restoring eyesight to poor children and correcting their deformities through a number of preventive, curative, surgical and preventive programmes.

Arab Philanthropy Forum
Abu Dhabi hosts every year the Arab Philanthropy Forum under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and the Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority.

Organised by the Zayed Giving Initiative alongside Abu Dhabi CSR Conference in strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the pioneering forum marks a major step in the philanthropy landscape. It focuses on community development in the Arab world and promotes a culture of giving and corporate social responsibility.

The event is attended by several heads of states, princes, sheikhs, ministers and leading Arab philanthropy figures. It honours prominent Arab philanthropists in recognition of their efforts in the field of humanitarian work and aims to motivate individuals and institutions to adopt sustainable community and economic development initiatives.

Emirates Volunteer Center
The Emirates Volunteer Center is aimed at preparing young volunteers who can contribute to various voluntary initiatives and programmes of the Zayed Giving Initiatives in different areas of health, education, environment and culture. The Zayed Giving Initiative also launched the first mobile volunteer centre in Abu Dhabi in partnership with various public and private organisations.
Global Initiatives

In a short time span, Zayed Giving Initiative has extended its surgical, curative and preventive programmes to several parts of the world, becoming the hope of thousands of needy patients in countries including Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco, Pakistan, Egypt, Bosnia, Lebanon, Eritrea, Jordan, Yemen, Indonesia, Syria, among others.

Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital (Elaaj)
The Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital (Elaaj) is a humanitarian initiative aimed at delivering specialised medical services free of charge to the needy patients in the UAE and worldwide.

Through the Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital, the Zayed Giving Initiative has implemented several humanitarian and health-care programmes in various branches of medicine under the supervision of top physicians. The initiative has successfully treated a large number of needy heart patients and children suffering from various diseases all over the world.

Curing One Million Children
A campaign to cure one million children all over the world was rolled out by the Zayed Giving Initiative through the UAE Humanitarian Field Hospital for Children (Riaya). After successfully providing treatment for more than 6,000 children in Sindh Province in Pakistan, two more field hospitals were set up to cure children in Egypt and India.
