The Yemen Red Crescent Society is a humanitarian organization established in the so-called southern part of Yemen in 1968. While in the so-called the northern part of Yemen, it was established in July 1970 under Presidential Decree No. 15 of 1970. After the blessed unity, it was merged in October 1993 to become one national society. The Yemen NS was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross in April 1982 and joined the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in October 1982.

YRCS achievements: During half a century in Yemen, the YRCS has been able to cover all governorates of the Republic of Yemen and enjoys a broad and unique community neutrality and acceptance to provide humanitarian services to the most needy people in Yemen. Our human approach is aimed at building strong communities, so we strive to build communities' capacities to enable them to help themselves during times of disasters and ordinary times. Despite the limited potential, the YRCS carries out humanitarian and relief operations with high efficiency within five strategic objectives:

1. Establish and maintain systems, policies and administrative processes at all levels to prepare and lead the YRCS to the next level;

2. Develop and maintain a dynamic and powerful society capable of delivering humanitarian services to poor and vulnerable people;

3. Achieve long-term financial sustainability of the Yemen Red Crescent Society;

4. Improve the overall health situation of the poor at risk in the areas where the Yemen Red Crescent Society is operating;

5. Provide timely and effective humanitarian services to those affected by natural and man-made disasters throughout the country.
