Non-profit organisation providing healthcare, special education remedial teaching mother empowerment and social services to disadvantaged children in Jerusalem and the West Bank

In 1925, Bertha Spafford took a baby boy in need of care into her home in the Old City of Jerusalem. Thus the Baby Home was founded and this evolved into the only children's hospital in the Old City of Jerusalem serving all of East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

After the war in 1967, due to funding restraints and changing needs, the hospital became the Spafford Children's Center. It was decided it could best meet the needs of local people by focusing on preventative medicine, offering a medical clinic, an ante-natal clinic, and an infant welfare department for weighing and vaccinations.

The SCC has been and continues to be challenged by the disruptive political situation in the area, and it aims to adjust it's services according to the needs of the people and the available funds.

Although current needs are different to those when the Spafford family arrived in Jerusalem, the moving spirit based on Christian values, is still the same. Help is given to anyone in need, regardless of race, religion or cultural background. The staff caring for the patients also come from different backgrounds and work harmoniously together.

Funding mainly comes from Christian and humanitarian organisations and private donations.
