Details

Based in Beirut, RAM’s core mission is to support Lebanese visual artists with purposeful work that serve social and cultural causes. Peace, coexistence, non-violence, tolerance, acceptance, respect for others’ differences, gender and race equality, fraternity, nationalism, and individual freedoms are all causes that RAM has made a firm commitment to endorsing no matter their artistic form: from painting, drawing, and graffiti, to sculpture, photography, videography, design, architecture, and more.
In addition to offering financial support to cause-focused artists, RAM also strives to shed light on Lebanon’s cultural and artistic scene in general, as well as to promote Lebanese creativity.
To serve this purpose and further encourage curated artists, RAM publishes PICTORAM, an annual magazine which highlights the latest cultural and artistic developments, talents, and events in Lebanon as well as among the Lebanese Diaspora ( www.pictorammag.com ).

Moreover, the foundation has its own TV program (5 de PIC) coproduced with Télé Liban. It publishes the work of handpicked artists through YouTube, Lebanon’s public and private schools network, and the bimonthly newsletter
of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as partners with several reputed cultural bodies including Le Centre du Patrimoine Musical Libanais (CPML-Espace Robert Matta), Ashkal Alwan and Beirut Art Center (BAC).

RAM is constantly on the look for new emerging talents whose art reflect more than just beautiful aesthetics and technical mastery; the kind of art that voices a cause and provokes an eye-opening impact in communities to create positive change and set the foundations for a more inclusive, just, and inspiring nation.

Son of widely-acclaimed Lebanese engineer and entrepreneur Alfred Matta, Robert Matta establishes The Robert Alfred Matta Foundation (RAM) in 2013 with his mother Nadia Matta to commemorate his late father’s valuable contributions to building a better and culturally richer Lebanon.
