Muntada Insan has a history of accomplishments spanned over 13 years serving the society. Muntada’s events are directed towards the human (Insan in Arabic) be social, environmental, cultural, health related, etc. These include a workshop and exhibition of creative arts using wastes to stress the importance of recycling, “Implementing 3Rs in Choueifat” project that was completed in January 2013 with a fund from the US Embassy, that aimed at raising awareness at schools and companies about 3Rs and collecting paper waste from them; in addition to raising awareness about the effects of using plastic shopping bags by distributing goody bags and encouraging people to shop using these bags. The project also included a public event for kids in November with a play, songs and other environmentally related activities. Also on the environmental level, Muntada led a successful campaign with local authorities to create a wide sidewalk in one of Choueifat’s beautiful areas for people to walk and enjoy nature, and currently work is being done to enhance the sidewalk.
Muntada Insan has been very active, since it was founded in preserving the cultural heritage in Choueifat and did for that “Souk El Ateeq Carnival” (Old Souk Carnival) in Choueifat Old Souk. In 2010, Muntada held a vast media campaign (MTV, OTV, Future TV, TL,newspapers: Annahar, Albalad; radio interviews: Voice of Lebanon two times) to stop the demolishing of an ideal old Oil Mill in this Souk and efforts with Ministry of Culture and Directorate of Antiquities led to stopping it. Current cooperation with EduDMG University, NGOs from Aley region, and local authorities is taking place to rehabilitate the Old Souk and several other old buildings in the area.
Muntada Insan is also active in doing regular awareness lectures in several disciplines.
