Many of the poorest people in Jordan have the potential, the skills and the determination to provide for themselves and their families through entrepreneurial activities, but without capital, they are often trapped in a cycle of dependence and debt.

We seek to dismantle the obstacles that prevent the entrepreneurial poor, especially women, from creating their own success and building better lives for their families by providing collateral-free loans to start or strengthen their own businesses. These businesses, though typically very small, enable borrowers to accumulate assets, create jobs for others and work their way out of poverty.

Investing in Women

We are the only non-profit organization in Jordan to actively target women. While most commercial lending institutions consider low-income women as unbankable, we consider them as agents of change. Investing in women triggers a powerful multiplier effect that positively impacts families and whole communities. Women have also proved to be excellent recipients of loans, repaying them on time and investing them responsibly.

Our focus on women extends beyond the field. Women make up 73% of our staff, and many live in the same communities as our clients. This enables us to gauge the real needs of the women we serve, build strong working relationships with them, and develop carefully targeted, gender sensitive products and services.
