The Maghreb Economic Forum (MEF) is a non-governmental non-political, independent and fundamentally Maghreb, founded in 2011.
It acts as a think tank with the aim of realization of projects on the ground showing that regional integration is often effective and fruitful.

• The North African community at large, both in the Maghreb countries and through its diaspora, has a proven human potential: men and women able to think, to develop an intellectual quality production and to contribute actively economic, social and human development of their region.

• The Maghreb group has undeniable strengths. Crossroads between Europe, Africa and the Arab world, North Africa enjoys privileged historical, cultural and geographical ties with each of these large assemblies.

• The young population of 85 million people is a labor and domestic consumer market able to sustain a double digit growth capable of ensuring sustainable development of the region. An area of 4 million square kilometers of natural resources, relative affluence are strengths that add richness to human Maghreb.

• Unfortunately, the region is now devoid of think tanks supported by civil society and allowing the Maghreb to develop its own approach for their future and their common future. Few carriers voices of concrete proposals and accomplished reflections are heard across the region to contribute to its emergence as an integrated whole with a weight in the global economy.

• A sad thing is clear to observers of regional integration down, among the lowest in the world and, even worse, a misunderstanding among peoples brought by human exchanges Endeca expectations and practices in other regions.

• For 40 years the project of an open and unified Maghreb faces constantly barriers essentially political. The proven potential of the Maghreb to play a leading role, in both economic and geopolitical, relying on its many strengths, is seen as compromise.

• It is precisely in order to try to change things and to boost its own reflection in the region on priority topics of socio-economic order and the need for harmonization or even a regional integration that we created the Maghreb Economic Forum.
