The Jordan Micro Credit Company (Tamweelcom) was established as a non-profit organization to pioneer the field of micro-enterprise support and development. On June 20, 1999, Tamweelcom was registered at the Ministry of Industry and Trade as a limited liability company owned by the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation which operates independently under the umbrella of the King Hussein Foundation. Tamweelcom was launched with capital from several sources. The Noor Al-Hussein Foundation donated JD30,000 of registered capital. Soon thereafter, Tamweelcom signed a grant agreement with USAID through the AMIR program which was established to support the business sector in Jordan. Throughout the years, Tamweelcom has garnered financial support from a variety of local and international sources; including loans from the European Union and the Development and Employment Fund of the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. Furthermore, Tamweelcom has successfully acquired loans from local and international commercial banks. To this day, with its capital reserves exceeding JD3 million, Tamweelcom continues to leave its mark on any challenge it faces. A growing capital coupled with enormous dedication and a laser-like vision have propelled Tamweelcom toward new territory and unprecedented successes in the microfinance industry. Tamweelcom has proudly positioned itself as one of the leading microfinance companies on local, regional and international levels.
