EL-MOBADRA is an independent accountable NGO and a community leader has been established in 1998, in order to act in response to the needs of Microfinance and the SME sector in Egypt. Moreover, assist the Social Fund for Development (SFD) in replicating the Small Enterprise Development in Upper Egypt Project (SMEDUP) experience in Egypt. This project has been established in 1996 according to the agreement between the Governments of Egypt (GOE) and Canada, represented by the Social Fund for Development (SFD) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) respectively.

The main goal of El-MOBADRA is to carry out programs that help improve the socio-economic status of low-income families and poor/marginalized population groups through collaborative efforts with NGOs on the national and international levels. To achieve this goal, El-MOBADRA plays a key role in supporting SMEs through Capacity Development for partners associations to design, finance and operate micro and small enterprise development projects. In addition, design and direct delivery of credit, training, technical assistance services and technology transfer program that are implemented in collaboration with branch institutions, partner agencies and donors, to micro and small entrepreneurs. More important, a key factor in the role of EL-Mobadra is networking and partnership that strengthen the partners NGOs through cooperation and interaction, which lead to improve their ability to influence the policy process.

Such contribution is made feasible not only through SME development but also through other related activities that pertain to the empowerment of women, the environment, health and safety, literacy and non-formal education.

El-MOBADRA is working with a number of partners, donors and associate member NGOs in the seven Governorates of Qena, Sohag, Beni Suef, Aswan, Giza Gharbia and El Behera called REDECs. Meanwhile, EL-MOBADRA has a main office at 6 October City, Giza, Cairo.

Emerging as a result of years of experience, El-MOBADRA helps eliminate some of the most intractable barriers to development in Egypt. Therefore, it contributes to long-term growth by fostering progress in this area and assistance to the established SME projects is the priority of El-MOBADRA.
