Our Mission

We aim to progress steadfastly towards strengthening the cultural life and presence of mature and reliable generation of youth through building rich music education and culture through regular and professional music training, teaching, and community engagement.

The Academy set its goals in specific and focused objectives as follows: Providing music education for those who like music, in Bethlehem area and all over Palestine, in all fields of music, including reading music, writing and instrumental performance of the student’s choice, literature of music and history, principles of harmony and counterpoint. This spreads from elementary to secondary level. The Academy’s future plans spread to professional music teaching in post-high school level in cooperation with other higher education institutions.

The Bethlehem Academy of Music stands as the result of the desire and fidelity of a group of music teachers and lovers in Bethlehem region, as they took the initiative to form a nongovernmental and not-for-profit organization to cater to serve the people regarding music and cultural affairs on two levels: oriental and western music, for both: the youth and adults alike. The Academy wanted to lay foundations for music culture for the next generations, and at the same time to restore Bethlehem as a modern symbol of Palestine, and present it to the world with an international music culture as well. This is how and why the Bethlehem Academy of Music (BAM) was founded in September 1996.
