The Bahrain Human Rights Society (BHRS) is a non-governmental organisation established on May 31, 2001. It has more than 100 registered members and is a leading human rights organisation in the Gulf region.

Its objective is to increase awareness of human rights principles and related international conventions by employing legitimate means to imply respect for human rights and freedom for all.

It monitors all human rights violations and works with the authorities to prevent their repetition in the future, whether they relate to discrimination and violations against women and children, torture and violence or abuse of migrant workers.
BHRS's work includes the publication of articles, papers and reports, including an annual report on the human rights situation in Bahrain and a quarterly newsletter. It hosts conferences, seminars, lectures and training workshops.
The organisation receives complaints related to human rights violations, investigates them and suggests suitable solutions

BHRS is a member of the International Federation for Human Rights, the Arab Organization for Human Rights, Arab NGOs for Development, the Coalition for the International Criminal Court, the Arab Network for Monitoring Elections, the Coalition of International Campaign to Ban Landmines, the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims and the Bahrain Coalition for the Protection of Migrant Workers.

As an independent organisation located in a country considered as rich, BHRS has limited ressources and seeks local and international financial support.
