Founded in 1989, the ATPF has set the objectives of strengthening connections between French teachers and graduate (primary, secondary, higher) in order to promote the teaching of French and accompany the reform of the Tunisian education system . ; Its financial resources come from contributions of its members, activities, various grants (Tunisian Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs French, public and private organizations).
