Mission is to participate in the implementation and finalization of all the legal texts related to the status of women and children in Mauritania, opening a center of permanent and mobile consultations for women who do not have the means to hire a lawyer and fight against all forms of discrimination against women.

HISTORY

The AMAFEJ was established on 20 February 1999 by a group of 70 women lawyers. It is a nongovernmental, apolitical and non-profit.

OBJECTIVES

Participate in the implementation and finalization of all the legal texts related to the status of women and children in Mauritania
Opening a center of permanent and / or mobile consultations for women who do not have the means to hire a lawyer,
Fight against all forms of discrimination against women,
Disseminate all legal relationships in data with the economic, social and cultural development of women,
Perform numerous training for women interested in the law and who have not had the chance to study;
Extension Workshops cedaw, training workshops in the field of cedaw,
Harmonization of national laws with the provisions of the cedaw,
Continual advocacy for the enactment of personal status,
improving conditions of women in detention and prisoners and their children,
Disseminate information on women's rights,
Create a center of documentation and legal informatioon,
actively work towards achieving equal opportunities between the sexes in access to economic and financial resources and property and to identify obstacles of all kinds that confront the realization of this objective,
Fill the void left by the absence of women lawyers associations able to better understand the legal and jurisdictional issues that confront the emancipation of women in Mauritania and play a key role in their promotion,
Provoke a debate on the status of women,
actively participate in the development of a national strategy for the promotion of a Mauritanian woman in collaboration with the S.E.C.F., the Ministry of Justice and the development partners,
Facilitate women's access to formal and informal education, vocational training to encourage the creation of women's businesses and the creation of cooperative groupings of production,
Achieving a strong alliance between AMAFEJ, the Government, civil society, donors and development agencies to promote the status of women in Mauritania.

Can join this association any woman with an LLM and / or have studied or worked in this area, and any Ong sharing the same objectives.
