Amal Association Environment
Mining Basin Métlaoui
Association Founded in February 2012, the Amal Association for the Environment in Metlaoui consists of 100 members today (for female half) and an advisory board of five members. The office of the association is composed mainly of teachers, who created the association in order to:
- Educate citizens to a culture of citizenship, non-violence and dialogue between differences;
- Claiming the right to healthy environment;
- Enhance the role of women in the mining area and bring him to assert his rights;
- to help people affected by the Gafsa Phosphate Company to recover their rights.
Present in disadvantaged areas of the mining area, and through an extensive network of partners,
the association disseminates the values of citizenship and legality of a culture of rights and duties through the organization of several types of activities. Since its creation, environment Amal perform multiple activities, among others around the right to a healthy environment:
- Interventions in 12 primary and secondary schools targeting students and their families (a film about environmental issues and health, games, drawing contests, cleanliness campaigns, ...) and creation of green spaces in a poor neighborhood of Metlaoui,
research Presentation;
extraction of phosphate impact on humans, fauna and flora and the status of the environment in the mining basin area;
