Details

The Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) is a grassroots movement created by young activists in Lebanon, in collaboration with migrant community leaders. Together we work on documenting, investigating, exposing and fighting racist practices in Lebanon, through various initiatives and campaigns.

Our current efforts are mainly targeted towards racism, and other discriminatory and exploitative practices, against migrant workers specifically. ARM’s largest project is currently the establishment of Migrant Community Centers (MCC). The first MCC was established in Beirut in 2011. MCC Beirut is now fulfilling its role as a small local hub for migrant workers’ activities and meetings, and a launching pad for many of their initiatives. MCC has been providing free language and computer classes since its launch, as well as other classes, activities, events, and field trips. On a daily basis, the space is most frequently used for community meetings, access to computers and the internet, a source of information and assistance, a place to launch initiatives from, a space to have celebrations and get-togethers, as well as a casual space to spend time with each other.
