ARAB NGO DIRECTORY
The Recognized Reference
Welcome to the Arab NGO Directory (part of NGO Portal) the dynamic reference for Arab-based and Arab-destined third sector organizations (the part of an economy or society comprising non-governmental and non-profit-making organizations or associations, including charities, voluntary/community groups and cooperatives) categorized by sector and country. Access the Advanced Search function to search for more information about any of the NGO’s you are interested in. You can add an organization to the database, by using the submission form.
Learn how to add your NGO with our tutorial available in Arabic, French or English.

The purpose of this index is to serve the entire NGO community in the Arab World as well as partners in government, the private sector, researchers, journalists and international development partners.
You can view further statistics here.
A practical tool to enhance knowledge and understanding of the NGO sector, the directory also serves to increase NGO transparency through the ability of each NGO to take control of their own listing and help them in the disclosure of detailed, credible information on the activities and funding of their respective organization(s). This directory is by no means static, as it will be continuously updated, upgraded and reviewed. It also must be recognized that tens of thousands of civil society organizations exist in the Middle East albeit very small and/or no longer in operations – see how much work is yet to be done. Our job is to try to source them out using our own internal resources or our volunteers (do you wish to volunteer? let us know).
At the same time, this is neither an open-access platform, where NGO’s may post whatever they wish, nor a listing with strict editorial control. Rather, all NGO’s operating lawfully within the Arab World are entitled—and encouraged—to write and submit their own short profiles; but they must agree to disclose the basic details that appear at the beginning of each entry. The site managers make every effort to ensure the reliability of the entries, but the NGO’s are themselves the authors of this information and ultimately accountable for its accuracy.
The Arab NGO Directory includes all type of civil society organizations, philanthropic organizations, non-profit organizations and other private voluntary organizations as well who have explicitly public missions.
arab.org considers “Arab” countries as those which belong to the League of Arab States.
