Details

The International Writers' House in Beirut aims to promote culture and contribute to the growth of Beirut and its reputation as a literary place in the region. This House has set a goal to organize an annual event bringing together international writers around a specific theme. It will enable the Lebanese public to meet writers from around the world, to the Lebanese writers in the presence of international writers and make Beirut a place where intersect the literatures of the world in the diversity of their languages, their themes and their concerns. It is also intended to encourage creative writing directly through its own publication, virtual and paper. This house is at the heart of an International Network of Houses of the same kind and helps to build relationships with the world.

The organization has the following objectives:

Organize annual thematic meetings where international writers meet with the public to reflect and debate around literature that comes from two worlds, literary work in multilingual cultures, and that of minorities.
Publish a literary magazine where authors will be commissioned to provide new text to be published in their original language and in translation to Arabic, French and English.
Promote academic research through organizing, every other year, academic meetings on the subjects of immigrant literature, “Europhone” Literature – literature written in European languages outside of Europe, and modernity literature.
