Present in Tunisia since 1966, UNDP has always focused its interventions on national priorities, ranging from support to young institutions set up by the new independent State to support the strategies and programs implemented by Tunisia in different areas. A number of challenges remain, which UNDP provides expertise and support in the fields of action corresponding to its areas of intervention. The Achievement of MDGs and the Poverty Reduction Democratic Governance Energy and environment for sustainable development equality of gender and South-South cooperation are two issues that UNDP deals with a transversal way, each according to his specialty. In Tunisia, UNDP has paid special attention to the promotion of CSS and equality of gender. UNDP interventions are conducted within the framework of a Country Programme, which is established for a period of five years, and which is based on the Plan of the United Nations Framework for Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), the next Country Programme, which covers the 2007-2011 period, with the priorities set out by the XIth National Development Plan (2007-2011) and the Presidential Program.
