Details

First: Established in 15th Jan, 1975.

Second: gained the consultation character of the UN in accordance with Resolution No. 2059, in 13/5/1977.

Third: The Union is a member in the civil society organizations of the Arab Bureau

Forth: Objectives of the Union:
1) To develop the Arab laws and seek to unify their terms.

2) Conduct seminar, conferences and professional training courses in the legal, judicial, justice and International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.

3) Provide experience and legal support to the Arab and international organizations that are concerned to achieve justice, and to improve their performance and capacities.

4) Develop legal research to cope with the scientific development of the legal thought and to support the writing, translation and publication movements in this field.

5) Contribute in the efforts aiming at the spread and application of the Humanitarian International Law which call for the respect of human rights and spread the culture of tolerance.

6) Issuance of magazines and papers specialized in the legal affairs, aiming to disseminate the legal culture.

Fifth: The number of member societies amounts to (16), representing (16) Arab countries, in addition to the members of the permanent office which represent the most imminent legal and judicial characters in the Arab world.

Sixth: with a support from the Arab Jurists, the Regional Documentary Office for the Humanitarian International Law was established.

Seventh: the Union has representative in the European office of the UN in Geneva and New York and is a member in the Human Rights Council- UN.
