Union Nationale de la Femme Tunisienne

s the National Women’s Union of Tunisian previously, the first national women’s organization founded in 1956, immediately after the declaration of independence of Tunisia.

The cradle of the Tunisian National Women’s Union, the composition of what happened years of progressive measures in favor of women, especially including the issuance of the Personal Status Code on 13 August 1956.

Since the early years of the Union focused its activities on the organization of national awareness campaigns in the field throughout the Republic to enlighten the role of women in social and economic development.

Union evolved restructuring and spread its branches and regional and local grassroots across the country participated in the mobilization of all forces women to contribute to the building of modern Tunisian state, and claim to defend the rights of women as an integral part of human rights.

Union educate women politically took her research to carry out national duties, and encourage them to perform election duty, enabling 1959 to win the right to vote and run for office.
