The Fondazione Terre des Hommes Italia Onlus (Terre des Hommes Italia Foundation – TdH It), member of the Terre des Hommes International Federation (which at present it chairs), was established in Italy in 1989 as an association of volunteers committed to Terre des Hommes Movement’s Chart. Since 1994 TdH It is registered in Italy as a Foundation. In 2000 (DM 2000/337/04170/0 del 19/09/2000) TdH It was accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE-DGCS) as an NGO qualified for the implementation of emergency and development projects in developing countries and for receiving public support and funding.

Since the same year TdH It is entitled to receive funds from the European Commission (Legal Entity n°6000057918) and in 2001 it signs the FPA with ECHO – Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection. In Italy, Terre des Hommes Italia is a founding member of CINI (The Italian coordinating body of the International NGOs based in Italy) and member of AGIRE (The Italian Agency for Emergency Response).

Today, Terre des Hommes Italia assists 100,000 children with 70 projects carried out in 22 countries, focused on the fulfillment of the Child Rights namely in the fields of health, education and protection.

Through the years, TdH It has worked to provide immediate and emergency support to the populations hit by wars (in Kosovo, Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian Occupied Territories, Ivory Cost …. ) or by natural disasters as in Indonesia or Haiti.

Since 2000, the Organization works in the Middle East, where it has carried out, in collaborations with several local partners, mid-term projects and emergency interventions funded by The Italian Cooperation, the European Commission, ECHO, UNHCR, UNICEF, OCHA and private donors in the West Bank, Gaza, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.

In Lebanon, TdH It operates with private funds since 2006 and, together with its historical partner Naba’a- Developmental Action Without Borders, has, since then, implemented 5 psychosocial and educational projects within the Palestinian refugee camps (Ain El Hilew, Nahr El Bared, Rashidyeh) and 4 educational projects in the most deprived and remote Lebanese villages (in South Lebanon and in Akkar),
