Details

Soins Infirmiers et Développement Communautaire (SIDC) is a non-profit organisation officially registered by decree 9/1992 at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1992.
Prior to becoming SIDC, Soins Infirmiers à domicile (SID) was created in 1987, as an emergency response to provide community health services and to improve the quality of life that had become increasingly inadequate and/or inaccessible in Lebanon, due mainly to the civil war.
During the war, SID’s mission was to help those who were the most socially and economically vulnerable by providing home nursing care on all Lebanese territory without exception.

Our objectives, which go hand-in-hand with the needs of the community and are based on the evaluations and observations executed by our field-working teams, are as follows:

- To inform, prevent, and reduce the number of infections related to HIV, STIs, and risky behaviours, through the awareness of our youth, Drug Users, Female and Male Sex Workers, Men who have Sex with Men, and society on the whole.

- To improve, on the longer run, the living conditions of people made vulnerable by stigma and discrimination in our society by providing them with a surrounding where their dignity and rights are preserved.

- To develop our diverse programmes (HIV and addiction programmes) in order to respond to a community that is increasingly touched by HIV, STIs and addictive behaviours.

- To involve the community actors and policymakers in order to change the laws and prejudices that govern our country.
