The “Pierre Sadek Foundation” was founded in November 7, 2013.
OBJECTIVES
Safeguard the work of Pierre Sadek by gathering and organizing his vast output within a public archive.
Promote Sadek’s work through exhibitions, publications and scholarly research. The principles and values of social responsibility, democracy, participation and development, at light of the morals and behaviors adopted by Pierre Sadek.
Organize an annual award under the name of “Pierre Sadek Foundation”.
Initiate educational programs in collaboration with public institutions and civil society organizations for the promotion of the art of caricatures.
ABOUT PIERRE SADEK
(1938-2013) Lebanon.
• Studied Fine Arts at the “Academie Libanaise des Beaux Arts” under painter Cesar Gemayel.
• Contributed to several Lebanese and Arabic dailies such as An-Nahar, Al Anwar, Al Amal, Al Joumhouriah, Ad-Diyar, An-Nahar Al Arabi Wal Duwali and Al Siyassa.
• Published internationally in various magazines, newspapers and news agencies such as Associated Press, United Press International, Time Magazine, Le Matin, France Soir, Washington Post, Atlas Magazine, Jeune Afrique and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
• Credited for pioneering televised animated caricatures following nightly newscasts on The Lebanese Broadcasting Corporations-LBC (1986-2002) And Future Television-FTV (2002-2013).
• Exhibited caricatures, drawings and paintings locally and internationally: St Georges, Lebanon (1969), Kuwait (1972), Saudi Arabia (1977), Damo Gallery, Lebanon (1980) and Washington D.C (1984).
• Published Caricatures Sadek (1964),
Idhak Ma ‘ Pierre Sadek’ Ala El Syassiyyeen (1972),
Kuluna ‘al Watan (1977) And Bashir (1983).
• Founded the advertisement company “Atelier d'art”
• Received several awards such as the Said Akl Prize in 1965 and 2003, the Kamal el Murr prize in 1988, the Rotary and Lions in 2000.
• In Recognition of his work Sadek was decorated thrice with the National order of the Cedar: Grade of Khight by president Suleiman Frangieh in 1972, Grade of Officer by President Elias Hrawi in 1997 and grade of Commander by President Michel Suleiman in 2012.
