We, the Lebanese Board on Books for Young People (LBBY), are a local non profit, non sectarian organization, founded in 1974, recognized by the Lebanese Government, license number, 116. LBBY is affiliated with an international organization known as the International Board on Books for Young People with headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. (IBBY website: www.ibby.org), Our twin chapter is United States IBBY whose assistance we are thankful for.
The LBBY present membership includes writers, illustrators, professors, publishers, educators, librarians, researchers, parents, and other individuals interested in children's literature. A number of our members have received regional and international awards for their outstanding contributions in this field. LBBY Objectives

Promote national and international understanding through children's books.
Encourage reading among Lebanese children and youth.
Assist parents and teachers in finding ways and means to promote reading among children and youth.
Serve as an advocate and a catalyst to improve the quality of Arabic books published for children and youth in Lebanon.
