The Jordan Press Association Law was first promulgated in 1953 and a temporary law was introduced for the Syndicate in 1983. Then the law No. (15) for the year 1998 is in force.

The Jordanian Journalists Syndicate brings together all journalists working for press organizations, accredited news agencies, the radio and television foundation and foreign press correspondents.

The number of members of the current union (1042) members of journalists who are full-time professional journalists. There are large numbers of trainees and non-practitioners.

The board of the union consists of a president and ten members representing the different sectors of the union from the private and public sectors.

The law of the Journalists' Syndicate is a law that is largely in line with the needs and requirements of the press and trade union organization. It aims at establishing an organization that represents the reality of journalists and expresses their will and fulfills the responsibilities of this profession. Except for some developments, which requires some amendments to it.

The Syndicate of Journalists has a director and an administrative staff with several committees composed of members of the General Assembly to facilitate the functions of the Council and to assist in its activities, which are diverse and different, including membership, health insurance, training, cultural and social rights.

The Syndicate provides treatment services for journalists and their families to those who do not benefit from other health insurance and provides treatment to them by doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and laboratories.

Under the law, journalists have access to information from their employers.

Under the existing law, more guarantees were obtained for journalists when they did their duty. The journalist may not be investigated in a case except in the presence of a representative of the union. It is responsible for journalists, both professionally and professionally, and has the right to be held accountable and disciplined and to resolve professional disputes among its members.

The association participated in many events inside and outside Jordan, whether these activities and activities are directly related to the press, media, national guidance, development and the environment or other social, cultural, professional and trade union activities.

The Jordan Journalists Syndicate has a prominent role in the international conferences organized by the international press organizations, the Union of Arab Journalists and the Union of Bilateral Relations and Agreements with many Arab and foreign organizations, unions and syndicates. It has a number of branches in the Kingdom and the provinces.

The Journalists Syndicate is a member of the Union of Arab Journalists, the World Journalists Organization and the International Federation of Journalists.

The Jordanian Journalists Syndicate is not limited to a certain level of leadership, but its conferences express the majority opinion and the elections are conducted in full democracy every three years.

During the course of the union, the union achieved several privileges for journalists and set up housing projects for its members. The association formed housing cooperatives, which were intended to build housing for journalists and provide the necessary services for them. These associations have internal regulations and administrative committees. It has also awarded colleagues plots of land at nominal prices.

It also set up news outlets in the kingdom aimed at organizing the newspaper sale profession and helping street vendors.

Among the privileges granted to journalists are scholarships for journalists' children, grants to perform Hajj and reduction on Royal Jordanian tickets by 50 percent, reductions in some hotels and tourist restaurants, and in some cases,
