VISION
Hurryyat envisions an independent, free and democratic Palestinian state where justice and peace, tolerance, respect for the rights and dignity of human beings are guaranteed, and where freedom of expression, social justice, rule of law are promoted, respected and sustained.

MISSION
Hurryyat supports and thrives to enhance the rule of law through raising awareness and lobbying on human, civic and political rights within the Palestinian society, monitoring human rights violations and providing legal, financial and psychological assistance especially to Palestinian prisoners detained in Israeli jails and their families.
ABOUT US
The Center for Defense of Liberties and Civil Rights “Hurryyat” is a Palestinian non-governmental and independent organization that contributes to the protection of the Palestinian liberties, civil and political rights.
Through its work, Hurryyat emphasizes the importance of enhancing Palestinian human rights issues; aspires to enhance the rule of law in the Palestinian society, and to provide legal follow-up to Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails. This as a matter of fact lays the ground work for all Hurryyat’s activities that can be achieved on a human rights-based approach to accomplish the overall Strategic objectives of the center:

Contribute to the alleviation of arrests and reduce its effect on detainees and their families by applying the principles of International Humanitarian law towards Palestinian and Arab prisoners in Israeli jails.
Advocate and support the various tiers of the Palestinian society to exercise their civic and political rights and liberties, with emphasis on benefiting marginalized groups of women and youth.
Develop, enhance and strengthen the institutional capacity of the organization and its staff.

Hurryyat was established in Jerusalem in 1992, and registered on 20/05/2003 at the Palestinian Ministry of Interior under registration number (RA-2276-LS); aspiring for contributing towards democratic and modern Palestinian society, where civil and political rights are guaranteed, and law and social justice are respected. The center’s programs were designed in accordance to the main objectives of the strategic plan as follows:

provide legal, financial and medical assistance to both the Palestinian prisoners detained in Israeli jails and their families
Monitoring human rights violations (including torture practices) in the Israeli and Palestinian jails
Provide legal follow up to citizens banned from their right to travel.

Within each program and project, a series of different activities are implemented including workshops, training courses, conferences, media coverage, television sessions and publications.
