Treating children with congenital heart disease. Heartbeat makes sure that children have access to adequate medical treatment, and high quality cardiac surgery. Throughout the past years, HEARTBEAT has organized several fund-raising concerts at BIEL, Faqra and the Casino du Liban. All concerts were major successes, attracting each year more than 5,000 people.

Congenital anomalies of the heart are among the most frequent malformations. They occur in 1% of all newborns and are the first cause of death before the age of one year. Unfortunately, all children are not alike in illness: they do not have access to the same standards of care; and because of lack of funds, some are condemned to die. Faced with the injustice that hits these seriously ill children, a group of doctors came with the idea of establishing a chain of solidarity to save them.
Mixing the pleasure of music with the serious business of cardiac medicine and surgery to fight this inequality, they threw their first concerts and treated a handful of children. Officially recognized as an NGO in 2005, Heartbeat now counts on the talent, support, and commitment of more than 100 people every year to pursue its mission, and treat more children in need.
