Geography and history played a major role in the formation of great civilizations that played a key role in the development of human civilization. These civilizations aspired to build societies based on justice and equality and respect for human dignity. In accordance with the founding charter of the United Nations and the covenants and conventions, In its third year and its tremendous progress in the field of communications and information technology and its impact on the formation of continental clusters coinciding with that progress.

Based on the principle of the contribution of all to any humanitarian effort that would create sustainable development for the advancement of human societies, a group of NGOs working in various fields from across the Arab world, the African continent and the Arab and Diaspora countries met to announce from Tripoli the West the establishment of the General Forum of Arab and African NGOs in the sixteenth From April 2000 to be a supporter and a contributor to the completion of the institutions of the African Union, and to achieve the objectives of the Forum for which he drafted at its founding meeting.

Thus, the General Forum of Arab and African NGOs, known as the Fongaf, is a regional non-governmental organization that includes non-governmental organizations from the Arab world and the African continent as well as non-governmental organizations from different continents dealing with the Arab and African Diaspora working in various fields including human rights, Children, youth, peace, culture, ...... etc. The Forum is also organized through its institutions (the General Conference, the General Secretariat, the Executive Committee) in accordance with its approved bylaws and bylaws.

The Forum has a partnership with many institutions working in the fields of civil work. It also has membership in several regional and international organizations to enhance its role at various levels in achieving the Millennium Development Goals set by the United Nations in the same year as the General Forum of Arab and African NGOs.
