6 apps to donate charity in Ramadan

Because Ramadan is the month of giving, charity is highly encouraged. For the occasion, here are six apps you can donate through during Ramadan and anytime afterwards.

1. Safe and Sound app
This app is part of the Middle East’s largest breast cancer campaign, designed to help and empower victims of the disease. The app allows direct donations to non-profit charity for medical research Al Jalila Foundation and breast cancer support group Brest Friends through a built-in payment gateway.

2. DFWAC app
The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) is the first non-profit shelter in the UAE for women and children victims of domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking. Through the shelter’s app, you can donate to the shelter.

3. ShareTheMeal app: This campaign is run by the voluntarily-funded United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) initiative, which provides food for 80 million people in 80 countries. ShareTheMeal organisers aim to feed 1,400 Syrian refugee children aged three and four in Beirut for a whole year. In its earlier campaigns, it fed refugee children in Jordan and breastfeeding and expectant mothers in Homs, Syria. You can donate through the app.

4. The Emirates Red Crescent app
Part of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Emirates Red Crescent provides humanitarian assistance across the world ‘without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions.’ The initiative has its own app, through which you can donate to its cause.

5. The Global Humanitarian Impact Fund (GHIF) app
All donations that go through this fund’s app help meet critical humanitarian needs around the world. It works with initiatives such as the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

6. Emirates Charity app
Created by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department of the Dubai Government, this application allows users to securely donate money to several charities operating in the city.
